The Batwa tribe, is an indigenous people who traditionally lived deep in the Bwindi forest. Sadly, the Batwa have been forcibly displaced from their ancestral lands since 1991 by the government of Uganda to pave way for conservation and protecting the few remaining endangered mountain gorillas, they were removed from their land without compassion and they belong no where today, they can’t practice farming, they have no access to social services like education, family planning, medical care, housing and they’re losing their traditional way of life and facing extreme poverty, hunger and marginalization, Our school is established to supporting the Batwa children by providing access to free quality education and opportunities that not only preserve their unique cultural identity but also help them overcome these harsh living conditions and build a more reliable hopeful future.
